Description
The Electrical Engineer, Operations Support role involves providing critical engineering and analytical support to System Operations. This position focuses on ensuring that projects adhere to technical standards, maintaining Energy Management Systems (EMS), and supporting real-time operational needs. It requires collaboration across teams and strong problem-solving skills to enhance system efficiency and productivity.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate, and approve projects according to engineering standards.
- Perform reliability studies and electrical system studies for operations and emergency scenarios.
- Conduct transmission seasonal assessments for upcoming operational periods.
- Maintain and update EMS applications, including Automatic Generation Control, Contingency Analysis, and others.
- Manage EMS data and documentation.
- Provide support to Transmission System Operators and Generation Dispatch, and coordinate with EMS personnel for simulator scenarios.
- Analyze logs, data, and indicators to detect failures and improve system efficiency.
- Work with cross-departmental teams on renewable projects and represent System Operation in various corporate initiatives.
- Perform storm restoration and other assigned tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- One+ years of engineering experience in power generation or related fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- EIT or PE certification.
