Description
Our client, an International Non-For Profit Organization is hiring a General Accountant is to support the Organization's financial operations by leading bookkeeping functions, analyzing accounting records for accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P), identifying discrepancies, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This individual will assist the Comptroller with critical reporting and payment activities while playing a vital role in account analysis, bank reconciliations, and process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including processing and reviewing A/P and A/R transactions, posting journal entries, reconciling bank accounts, and ensuring accurate classification of financial data.
- Analyze accounting variances, identify discrepancies across accounts, and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor daily banking activities and prepare detailed bank reconciliations.
- Assist the Comptroller with executing payments, following up on outstanding invoices, and preparing accurate financial reports.
- Manage permit and license renewals as needed, maintaining up-to-date compliance records.
- Review and organize financial documentation related to construction contracts, RFIs, proposals, and related reporting.
- Preferred: knowledge of construction accounting processes; willing to provide training on federal funding procedures if needed.
- Support the preparation of internal and external audit requests.
- Provide administrative and office support as needed to help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of daily activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 3+ years of relevant accounting and financial analysis experience preferred.
- Expertise in QuickBooks and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with additional accounting systems is a plus.
- Experience in construction accounting is highly desirable.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
- Provide administrative support to ensure the effective operation & daily activities.
- Ability to work flexible hours depending on operational demands
