Description

This position is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing comprehensive fundraising initiatives that support operations, educational programs, capital projects, and the endowment fund.

The Head of Development will lead the capital campaign, strengthen donor relations, oversee corporate and individual giving programs, and work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to advance the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate the Development team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Lead the capital campaign and serve as the primary liaison to the Endowment Campaign Committee.
  • Secure annual and long-term philanthropic support for operations and the endowment.
  • Oversee the development department’s budget and ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Revamp and expand membership programs for individuals, patrons, and corporations.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of grant proposals for programmatic and capital initiatives.
  • Build and sustain relationships with grant makers, institutional partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at donor, community, and professional events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, endowment, and annual giving.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving revenue goals and leading comprehensive development programs.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and cultivate donor relationships.
  • Knowledge of financial management, marketing, and best practices in donor relations.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong commitment to the arts and to advancing the organization’s mission.
