Description
A new international university campus is seeking a qualified Professor of Microbiology & Infectious Disease for its new School of Medicine location in the British Virgin Islands. This position supports medical education through teaching, curriculum development, assessment, advising, research activity, and university service. This faculty position supports instruction across the medical curriculum, with potential teaching assignments in Microbiology, Gross Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, and Biochemistry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Microbiology and related biomedical science courses.
- Develop syllabi, course materials, assessments, and student learning outcomes.
- Deliver instruction using student-centered and flipped-classroom methodologies.
- Maintain professional and timely interactions with students and faculty.
- Mentor and advise medical and graduate students; participate in thesis committees.
- Prepare exams, evaluate academic performance, and submit grades on time.
- Participate in faculty meetings, accreditation processes, and curriculum development.
- Engage in research, grant writing, scholarly activity, and laboratory oversight.
- Contribute to committees, workshops, and institutional service.
- Maintain an environment conducive to learning and uphold university policies.
Requirements
- Education: Doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in academic and professional experience in Microbiology required.
- Skills: Advanced fluent English speaking and writing is required, excellent communication, data analysis, time management, and organizational skills.
- Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Flip Classroom and LMS (Canvas) is a plus.
