Description: The Senior Program Director will lead the design and execution of our Foundation’s grant-making portfolio while guiding a dynamic programmatic team. This role includes facilitating the development of a Theory of Change that aligns with our mission and fostering strategic discussions that connect our programmatic and philanthropic efforts. Collaborating closely with the Development unit, the Director will create engaging opportunities for donors and establish a robust reporting process that enhances our storytelling and accountability. Supervising a team focused on vital areas like energy, economic development, and gender equity, the Senior Program Director will drive impactful projects that contribute to meaningful change in the community.

Responsibilities and Competencies:

  • Design and continuously evolve the Foundation’s Theory of Change.
  • Develop a grant program portfolio and explore new funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to create grant proposals and donor experiences.
  • Supervise a team
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary team of program officers, coordinators, managers, and a director.
  • Create a comprehensive reporting system that covers internal updates for staff, management, and the board, as well as donor and public reporting for annual reports.
  • Lead and manage programmatic and institutional research, presenting detailed data findings.
  • Manage the annual budget for programmatic activities.

  • Act as a liaison between the Foundation and the community, participating in local discussions.
  • Conduct research on community trends and facilitate internal learning.
  • Inspire commitment to the mission to foster social change that enhances lives and builds healthier communities.
  • Prioritize people over processes and skillfully nurture and manage relationships to achieve common goals.
  • Recognize the roles and contributions of all community sectors and effectively mobilize financial and human resources through meaningful engagement.
  • Committed to shared and measurable goals for the greater good, developing and implementing strategies and innovations for broad investment and impact.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or doctorate in Public Administration, Social Sciences, Education, Liberal Arts, or a Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
  •  A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including management experience.
  • Proven success in conceptualizing, presenting, and securing approval for innovative proposals.
  • Knowledge of social responsibility and philanthropy, with the ability to secure funding to sustain the unit.
  • Experience in management and program leadership.
  • Strong technological and research skills, with a focus on internal organization.
  • Self-driven individual with an entrepreneurial vision and community focus.
  • Excellent listening skills and high emotional intelligence to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to mobilize resources and build meaningful relationships.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required, with preference given to candidates who speak an additional language (French or Portuguese) both orally and in writing.
  • Strong research and educational skills, with a willingness to support internal learning initiatives.
  • Excellent listening skills are essential.
